Changing the Manifolds and Risers on 2001 Air

I knew this was going to be a project when I saw the rusted bolts on the exhaust manifolds and I did a lot of research on methods to remove them but boy what a pita! I owned a 90 Sport that lived in the ocean for 4 years and the replacing of the manifolds and risers was easy as my bolts were not rusted. On the 2001 I am guilty of not replacing the riser gasket and allowing the leak to create the mess I had to deal with. I read how people have used everything from sledge hammers to break the manifolds off to torches to help free up the bolts. Bottom line was the allen heads of 5 of the 16 bolts were so badly rusted I had to drill them out with a 3/8 carbide drill. This is a slow process that required 2 $35 drill bits. Lesson learned. Swap out the gaskets first sign of a leak (especially for a saltwater boat).
