    Tower Problems

Last summer I purchased a 97 sport that has what I am pretty sure is a boss tower on it. The tower comes apart in 3 pieces, two sides and one top in the middle that connects the the two sides. The tower moves a lot from side to side when there is no rider behind the boat. Has anyone had one of these towers and if so did it have a lot of movement in it?

Any ideas of how to stop the movement and ratleing?

    RE: Tower Problems

Sounds like you've got an adjustible or universal fit tower. While those are great because they usually cost less, and install on anything, that is one of the issues. They rattle and just aren't as rigid as a made to fit tower. First, I'd check the mounting bolts at the feet and all of the adjustment boalts and make sure they are snug. You might even try expanding the tower out a bit at the adjustments to get it tighter across the boat. Next, I'd see if anyone here has any good ideas. Finally, I would suggest you narrow down who is the manufacturer and give them a call to see what tricks they might have to tighten up the tower. Most of the towers have a bit of side to side sway. When the feet bolts on my FCT get lose, I can tell. Part of why many of the new towers are larger than 2 inch tube is to provide more lateral strength.

    Good luck. BKH
