Changing oil in 95 super sport GT 40 What filter and oil are you using ?? I think I've been using Framm PH8A and straight wait oil as the manual calls for. I'm thinking 10/40 oil would be better. What do you think?? What about the drive oil straight 30?

I'm using Mobil 1 15/50. It has high sulphur
Content needed for flat tapper engines like the Ford 351. I also use the Mobil 1 oil filter. I have seen the benefits of synthetic oils in engine life cycle testing on light aircraft engine trials and the difference is dramatic and profound compared to conventional oils.

That’s very interesting. I had constant issues in my 06 SANTE with the oil alarm sounding when decelerating (ZR6). I called PCM and the guy immediately recommended 50W oil. I did that for several seasons with no further issues. This is good info though.

On my GT40 I ran Delo 400 SDE and an FL1A filter. That oil meets the most recent specs. Kirklands 15w40 does too but I didn’t find that until after I sold that boat.

There are a lot of PCM small block Ford engines running with 10W-40, 5W-40, 20W-50, 15W50, 40W, etc. I don't know of any failures due to oil lubricity or viscosity issues as long as the ZDDP content is adequate. Too many folks get all wound-up around the axle when it comes to oil brand and viscosity. Relax. Run the boat.

I recently changed the oil in my 2001 GT40 and used sraight 40 weight VR1 racing oil. I looked back at the service records and noticed that the dealership that changed it last year used a 15 W 40 Rotella t4. Just for consistency, I think I'm going to change it and go back to the 15 w40. Is this the correct one and does it have enough zddp content? Is change it again worth the effort?
