My 1996 SN GT40 EFI just started cutting out at 3k RPMS. This came on suddenly between runs and seems like a governor keeps kicking in cutting the engine consistently. It's too consistent (every 3 seconds) to be gas or water, distributor, etc. Anyone have any ideas. The engine starts and runs fine otherwise. Thanks in advance!!

The manuals section on the site has a gt40 efi manual. With in the first 25 pages it has a diagram and discusses the sensors and switches. I think page 22 in the document talks about the two switches above.

The switches are not sensors. More like a light switch without a dimmer control. The gauges are supplied by sensors the computer switches are different than the gauge reading. If the gauges look ok probably one of the two switches is bad. There are 3 water sensors, 1 water switch and on the oil side a oil sensor and a separate oil switch. You'll get it after reading the first 25 pages of the manual.

Thanks again JH!! After reading the manual thats exactly how it's behaving. I'm guessing its on the water side because it ran fine after cooling down a bit and then started kicking in again. I'll see what I can find in the morning. Is there a way to tell which switch/sensor is tripping? Thanks again!!
