So I'm in the procees reinstalling the shaft after replacing strut bearings and transmission rebuild. I have the shaft in place but can some confirm if it looks like the strut out of alignment or does the transmission need to be place to make that determination?

Can not comment on the strut, but to align the shaft the transmission must be and the boat setting in the water for a certain period of time before start with aligning the motor/tranny to the shaft2013 SAN 230

Not true, these boats do not flex significantly, I wouldn't worry about aligning them on the trailer.
1. Align strut to log. Requires test fitting (dry) to confirm position and if modifying angle (washers, grinding) is required.
2. Once strut is locked down, align the powertrain to the shaft. The shaft must be positioned to where it spins freely in the strut- this is critical.

I installed the trans and it lined up perfect without adjustment. It just looked off because the shaft was pretty close to the edge of the hole it comes through in the hull. I had the trans rebuilt, replaced the shaft, replaced the strut bearings, installed oj drip less seal, and replaced the prop all at the same time. I was surprised it lined up as well as it did and spun freely. It runs super smooth now.Last edited by screamincamaro; 06-15-2015, 09:07 AM.

The rudder had a leak which stopped when I greased it. I also noticed a couple of water leaks coming from the muffler. My plan is to remove the muffler and replace it with a Y and try one of the fresh air pipes. My goal is to have a dry bilge area and to take care of some long over due maintenance.Last edited by screamincamaro; 06-15-2015, 09:29 AM.
