    2005 SV211 running hot HELP

So I was powering the boat off of the trailer and heard a muffled pop sound. Not very loud at all. Then the boat seemed to be a little louder than usual.
Started out down a no wake zone for a while and then noticed the boat running hotter than usual. By the time I got back to the dock it was around 215.
There is two big hoses (3 1/2") that go to the muffler, the one on the Port side had a blister the size of a softball. Once I got back home I put a laser temp gun on the
riser and the port was 195 and the starboard was 165. If something was going on in the muffler would that cause the temp to rise? Any help would be awesome.

Looks like my strainer bowl has a leak and I think that cooked my impeller. Water not getting to the exhaust caused the boat to be louder.
But why is one side hotter than the other?

I am not 100% sure what would cause this, but the PCM manual on page 64 has the flow paths for the raw water cooling. Is it possible the suction was blocked from the thru-hull? is this the first time out this season? the strainer bowl cracked? I wonder if from suction/vacuum?

Also, if the impeller disintegrated where did the pieces go?? If some blocked the smaller passages to the exhaust, that may cause it. I would pull the raw water hoses from the exhaust side, raw water pump inlet and outlet, and any other places it goes to check for blockages or clogs

I didn't see anything blocking the thru-hull. We've been out probably 7-8 times this season and I replaced the impeller last season.
I wouldn't think it would go bad that quick, but I will definitely change it out every spring from now on. There was a small leak on the strainer that may have contributed to the failure.
New parts should be in on Wednesday so I'll be looking for the pieces of the impeller in the mean time.

Tim- Thanks for your help on this!!! Hopefully I can get away with changing the impeller, strainer, thermostat, and a couple of hoses.
The muffler is $500 at Nautique Parts. I was able to find 2 small pieces of the Impeller in the T-stat housing, but there is still some pieces missing. I should get the parts tomorrow I'll let you know how I fare. Thanks Again

So I changed my impeller, strainer bowl/o-ring, thermostat, and the 3 1/2" hose that goes to the muffler and I am good to go. Temp stays right around 160-165.
I guess the leaking strainer bowl caused the impeller to fail???

Possible, impeller experiencing excessive cavitation and pressures, could just be a bad impeller. There has been mention of a bad batch from china that came in a box, vice the shrink wrapped flat board packaging that were disintegrating much faster than they should have and with little warning. It could have been stored in a weird way. you never know, but I am glad the temps are back to normal!
