    Spun Ballast Puppy Impellor

Anybody else experience "spun" impeller (green). It is on the primary surf side, but I seem to go thru one per season (at least). Is there something I can do to prevent this?

Have always been told after you're done emptying click them back forward to fill briefly so the veins are in the proper direction for filling. It was explained this helps them last because while in storage they loose the water for lube and sometimes can get "stuck" to the housing. Then you you try and fill the rotation along with the veins having to swap with non water lube cause malfunctions more frequently. Makes sense as an explanation.

How true it is I can't say. I do this and have great success not flying through impellars

Ha funny you post this. 190hrs 2yrs on my originals, just had a minor issue.

By spun.... Do you mean the metal jacket in the center of the green impeller has broke loose from the green plastic? Not sure what you mean by spun.

Anyhow, last few times out my starboard has been real slow to fill, like twice as long as belly and port. So I remove the starboard green impeller and inspect.... And no damages visible except a strong bend in all the ribs to one side like a little hurricane.

I have an extra, but just for giggles I put the hurricane bent one back in.... but backwards, opposite way it was before... To see if I could get a little more life out of it, sure enough it works A+.

I think Swat is on to something... But for different reasons. Hit fill on all your pumps for a second right before you go to store it sometimes to even out the bend of the ribs. Without doing this, they spend 99% of their lives bent in the empty direction. Give 'em some time stored in the other direction!

Yeah, the shaft from the pump motor has spun (stripped) out the center of impeller -- so when you turn on the pump, the shaft of the pump spins but the impeller doesn't.

saw a post on Wakemakers' site comments section in response to the same issue, saying they'll replace them due to defects. I seem to have bought a bad string of them (and thrown them away without getting any replaced by the manuf.)
