So I bought a 2005 SANTE yesterday and lucky me, already having issues. Tested the boat for about an hour before I bought it, ran perfect. Towed it home and took it out on the lake last night and it ran perfect. Now today, I go buy a bunch of new surf stuff, get ready, and take it out to try and surf and it's having issues. I first noticed it when it would hesitate for a moment and you had to add a little throttle to keep it going at speed. I thought maybe it was all the weight from the ballast. A few minutes later and you pretty much have to give it full throttle to get any power at all. At full throttle it ranges anywhere from 1-10 mph. Any clue what's up? The boat starts and idles great. There is a slight whistle coming from the engine area right before the transmission engages.

So, is this a SANTE or a 226? SANTE stands for Super Air Nautique Team Edition. For the 2005 model year, that can only be a 210 or a 220. The 226 is not a Super Air Nautique.
Sounds like you may have caused the engine to go into limp mode. Is the check engine light on?I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. 2005 226 Team Edition. No check engine light and runs smoothly at idle and starts right up.
I tried taking the boat out again a few minutes ago. It ran ok for a minute, about 30mph at full throttle. I stopped and let it idle for a couple minutes. After that it would only go about 15mph at full throttle.Last edited by factive; 06-20-2015, 07:58 PM.

I have the same boat, but never had this problem. What are the RPM's at full throttle? This may sound like a stupid question, but by chance do you have the PerfectPass engaged? Or, it could be engaging and reducing your speed.

I think it definitely has something to do with the perfect pass. I've had the boat running perfectly for the last couple of days and today while I was testing the perfect pass to figure out why it wasn't working properly, it happened again. I put perfect pass into RPM mode so I could see if the paddle wheel was the problem on that. It worked fine in RPM mode so I know it's my paddle wheel. But after I turned off the perfect pass it was taking a lot of throttle to get the boat up to speed again and with throttle wide open I was only hitting about 30mph.
My guess is that the servo motor on the perfect pass is giving the throttle cable too much slack. You all think this is plausible and if so, how would I fix that?

Call PP. They'll help you trouble shoot. Could be as simple as software update or new paddle wheel. Make sure the servo motor is not sticking. My boat is not drive by wire. If yours is also cable, the servo could be restricting throttle movement.

Look at the cable on the servo, if it has a bunch of slack that is likely your problem. While cycling the ignition on watch the servo to see if it spins back and forth to synch up. With ignition off if servo has slack spin the knob until slack is taken up, then cycle and observe again to see what it does.
