    Limp mode

Folks, I could really use some guidance. I have an 03 216 air nautique with the 330 PCM. Last year I noticed my volt gauge reading low (10-11 V) but I checked both batteries at rest (12.8 or so) and under power (14.4) so I figured it was just the gauge and said screw it. This season after prolonged operation at cruise speed the boat suddenly goes into limp mode and won't run over 2800 rpm. Once I go back to idle, I can run it up to 2600-2700 without a problem.....but touch 2800 and it shuts down again. All gauges look normal except for the voltmeter. Pretty hard to ski like that and I thought it must be oil pressure sensor or temp sensor. This weekend it happened and oil gauged showed 48 psi and temp was just under 170. I disconnected the wire to the temp sensor (I think i got it right because the gauge went to 0 and tried running disconnected. It ran briefly then went into limp again. I can't find the oil pressure sensor or I would have tried that. My questions.....are the sensors what feed the info to gauges? If so, when they read normally, will is still cause the limp to engage? If this is a bad sensor......where the heck is the oil sensor? Is there anything else I should be checking? I am a long way from White Lake Marine and can't get the boat there for help. So I am hoping someone on here can ***

have you checked your impeller? It is possible the boat is overheating under load. Pretty sure that puts the boat into limp mode.

I would check ground connections, they are notorious for causing problems on a boat. Check at battery and block. If you have access to a meter, make sure you are getting full voltage at the ignition system

On the GT-40, there are two sensors for oil and temp. One is for the gauge and the other sends it into LIMP mode. Maybe it's the same for for the PCM 330.
