Ballast pump fills but won't empty when light is flashing

I have a 06 220 SANTE. Today my ballast pump started acting up. Starboard fills but won't empty. I checked all the breakers and still no luck.

Did you take off the cover and verify it spins both ways?

Is the sending unit working correctly? If reading empty, or unplugged it will not empty. Unplug and insert a jumper wire to test

My first reaction was to change the impeller. I keep a spare on the boat. When I popped the cover off, I had the wife try the switch in both directions.

d_nodixon, This makes sense, I can here the switch/relay in the dash area when I hold to empty but the pump doesn't make a sound. The starboard side level sensor & gauage has been a little lazy recenlty. I will try that this evening.

Do you piggyback? I'm wondering if your tank could have been sucked down enough to bend the sending unit such that it thinks it's empty when it's actually not.

I second the vote for the jumper test, and also see if you can scope your sending unit and make sure your float moves freely.

Yes, I do piggy back. Float should be easy to get too.I think its under the carpet/board on the startboard side with 2 screws holding it down.

d_nodixon nailed it! It was unplugged. I'm guessing something stored in the compartment must have pulled on the wire.
              Thanks!
