Well you are in the boat at the right price provided the critical mechanical components are all good. 165 hours is very low for the year. The cosmetic items are really sweat equity items that you can resolve including the vinyl replacement.

FWIW if you get in a 2008 210 for $40-$45K with trailer that is a very good deal and one that would be and easy out 2 years from now as the market is really good for theses boats since the new models are always increasing in price. They will continue to be very desirable for potential new Nautique buyers looking to get into their first Nautique but not wanting to purchase new. The same can be said for a 211 but the market for a 211 is limited to more family oriented wake and use where as the 210 is more of the wakeboard/ surf specific boat.

It will be intresting to see your updates on the 211 if/ when you get the boat.

The owner just got back to me, I sent them a link to this thread and said that there has been some question about the bolts on the elbows and the V-Drive and I received this response.

"When we originally purchased the boat we put new gaskets and exhaust tubes, recommended by the marina. So I imagine that's what it's from. "

Bartlettjw, I purchased a boat similarly and have learned a lot over the past 8 months. A bunch of stuff I wish I knew 8 months ago.

I redid a ton of stuff on the boat and because I am a perfectionist, I spent a ton too. SeaDek, gelcoat repair, graphics, skins, tuneup, Bimini...and a bunch of other stuff.


Check everything visually, especially the hull in sunlight, and do your test drive. Under load, at idle, and full speed. Check all the buttons. Don't be shy, it's your $30k.

That sounds reasonable. The rust scale on the v-drive bolts could really have been from the rainwater setting in there for a prolonged period. Other aspects of the boat based on the photos don't suggest saltwater use. A compression test would sure be piece of mind though as well as pulling ECM data for hours and rpm operating times.

You could still add a FPC warranty to this boat if it was inspected, I have had good luck with using them.

Guys, after reconsidering a boat decision in general (and many negative people and negative comments), We have decided to postpone any boat purchase for this season.

It understandable... July is probably the worst time to try to buy, everyone wants a boat cause its hot out... see how motivated sellers are in November when they are looking at 5-6 months of payments, with ZERO use. :-)

No! Not you guys at all! This site has been great! I asked for information and opinions from folks like you that would be well-versed in Nautiques.

It's just our entire family and friends that keep telling us how bad an idea it is given the timing, summer is half over, recent weather, lake/river distance from us since it'd be trailered and garage kept. We also keep hearing that we'll never use it, or only use it 5 times, or that we'll lose a ton of money, or what if it has mechanical issues later etc.

To their defense, I do have a 2013 Polaris RZR 900XP sitting here loaded out with less than 300 miles that is up for sale from my last under-utilized hobby. We've also had a camper that was used maybe 10 times in two years, that I sold when we built our house in 2008.


However, I'm also a competitive long range rifle shooter. I have more invested there than the boat would have cost and I utilize that stuff pretty regularly.

I realize that all hobbies etc have risks and cost to play, but when we've heard this stuff over and over for past month locally, it just wears you down. It's normally not a good sign when I find myself revisiting the "is this a good idea" thought as much as I did in this case.

I have always tried to convince friends that get on a boat kick to rent when they get the urge to buy to first see if the lake is something they like. To my wife and I it is a sanctuary of relaxation. Too others it is a bundle of stress especially when mechanical issues arise. I am lucky and only live 5 miles to the lake which we frequent, and the season is fairly long (April to November).
