    1983 SN 2001 exhaust question..

I was having a hot manifold issue.. From the Exhaust Manifold>>Riser>> that flows out through 3" tubing into a "muffler".. that thing, that the tube connects to, that sits under the subdeck.. that part melted so that it leaks water in from the flaps when idle and engine when running.

I'm replacing the impeller, crossing fingers hoping it will take care of the heat issue but now it's either rig the warped plastic, heat it up, reshape?? or pay 189 +SH for a metal replacement.. or, or, or, just running 3" reinforced tubing from the riser to the flap in back??

    Actual question-
What is that plastic black muffler? Does it have baffles? I have the parts manual, service manual..cant even find one, no pics, nothing listed and just a possible fit from one vendor, made out of metal?

This seems like a no brainer but I'm sorely lacking in that department so.. any help would be appreciated.

    Thx in advance.

For the older boats you will probably get more hits if you post on CCFan.

If I understand your post correctly.... You can get by with replacing all of that old sub floor muffler stuff with sch 80 pvc. Much cheaper than replacing the mufflers.

Awesome answer!! I was looking at the 3" reinforced Shields but it was almost as much as new baffles to run it from the risers out!!

Lake was glass this morning, had to SUP instead but new parts are arriving tomorrow!! Stoked!
