    Engine Cover Latch

I have a 2004 216 LTD that has an annoying problem. When you stand on the engine cover it pushes it down slightly and unhooks the latches sometimes causing it to open all the way. Anyone have a solution for this? The latches for sale on Nautiqueparts.com are the same we currently have.

Not standing on the motor seems like a reasonable option but in reality it's not, especially when you have ballast surrounding the engine.

Nothing I can think of. I know what you are saying. Some of the engine covers do that and some don't. Maybe can add some more rubber gasket trim piece so that it can't compress as much when pressure is put on the engine cover?

The latches are adjustable, had port locker that would not latch, and walkthrough locker that would pop open. Took a while to get it right, but they are adjustable. I had to actually take one apart and slightly relocate it to make it work.
