    Swivel board racks won't lock

My swivel board racks won't lock in the swivel out or swivel in position. Is there a wear part that needs replaced? I tried to attach pics of my racks but don't know if it worked. I have the standard Nautique racks from 2011.

ID:	467083 Ok guys here's a pic of my swivel board rack that won't lock into place. Currently I have to use a bungee cord to hold it in place. Does the swivel mechanism have parts that wear out and have to be replaced?

When it is in the lockable position can you pull down on the latch and manually lock it into place. If so, it maybe the spring. If not, the pin maybe bent. Did it get bumped at any time when in a locked position?

Like swankster said it could be the spring, but you should be able to manually pull the pin down and not need a bungee. I know the spinners have serviceable parts, might want to pull yours apart and see if you can see any parts that are visibly worn or broken. I've seen the brass track get worn so that instead of a true stop position, it is more of a gradual area, which meant the pin could disengage when bumpy and rotate. NautiqueParts sells all the components.. and there is even a set on eBay right now.

Ok, I feel kind of dumb now. I didn't even realize there is a pin to pull down on to lock the swivel. Nothing on the swivel has a knob or any sort of handle that "screams pull me". I will have to try to pull the metal piece on the bottom of the swivel I guess.

The metal piece you are talking about is spring loaded. When the rack rotates into a lockable position, the pin will drop in place and the metal piece will drop with it. You have to push up on it to disengage the pin and then the rack will pivot. That's why I think your spring is broken or your pin is bent.

              Swankster,
The way you make it sound there is a detent of sorts that makes it lock into place. I can see something in the pin track on either end that looks like it would serve the purpose as a detent of sorts, but it doesn't even come close to locking. Honestly, this is the only disappointment I've had with my boat. The board racks are very disappointing. My Malibu had much better racks and the clamping racks on Mastercrafts are far away better than either Nautique or Malibu racks IMHO.

I bent the housing on one of my brackets rack early this summer; had to order a replacement piece; unfortunately, Nautique only sold the whole assembly ~$350, cha-ching. When I put the new bracket on and swiveled the rack several times, it would not lock into place. Dealer contacted Nautique and was told that it is not unusual initially that it requires a very strong and steady push forward or back to engage the pin. Once I did that it has been working fine.

Maybe I'm just not pushing hard enough to get the pin to engage. Hmmm.
