2000 SAN GT-40 Starts, will not stay running help ?

2000 Nautique Super Air, GT-40 motor. Sunday we were out about 2 hours surfing, shutting off and starting occasionally as we switched riders. After about 2 hours or so, we stopped and floated around to eat & soak. It was hot out (90 plus). When we attempted to go again, the motor cranked right up, started, ran about 5 seconds and died. It will do this as many times as we try. Will not stay running. Next morning it started and ran. Didn’t go out boating, just tied to the dock, opened the boat up to dry it out. It basked in the sun a good 6 hours. When attempting to start again, it starts, but will not continue to run.

Thermostat is new, shows 160 at operating temp. New fuel cell filter, new raw impeller.

Appreciate any help or trouble shooting test procedures,

Pull the lanyard off and see if it does the same thing...you can jump the wires and delete it

I think you will need to check your fuel pressure when it won't start at the Schraeder valve. Many have discovered their low pressure fuel pump slowly dying causing this issue as I have. As a temporary fix, keep, the ignition switch cranking when it kicks over and don't release it for a few seconds after it initially starts and you should be able to keep it going at this point.

I also replaced my ignition switch for other reasons. POOR MAN'S GT-40 TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE is also a good read here on the forum.

thanks everyone. This forum is great! The kill switch is intermittent. Jumped around it & boat runs.
