    Repair broken Bimini

Hi guys/girls, I have a 2006 SN 196 and whilst driving the boat a wind gust broke the front straps and then broke the mounting bracket at the bottom of the wind screen of the Bimini. I've looked at Planet Nautique and it looks like they don't stock the older style straps and have gone to poles instead. Is there any one out there who still makes them or is there a simple conversion which would be cheaper then a whole new Bimini set up. Help appreciated, thanks Shaun

the straps should not be nautique specific. I see you are down under, but I just googled "bimini top straps" and got over 200K matches. a local upholstery shop should be able to whip those up too, it should really just be some nylon webbing and the correct fittings.

The piece that concerns me is the piece you say is broken at the windshield. I cant picture if it is the windshield piece, or the bimini piece that is broken.

The broken parts were made of black plastic like an end cap on the ends of the poles and a bolt with a plastic head fixes the end cap to the side of the wind screen, I'll google them up here to see if a local manufactor makes them.

you should be able to replace all of them no problem. If they were plastic before, I did see a complete replacement set for a 3 bow bimini on ebay (and all the marine catalogs carry the same fittings) but made of meta vice the plastic ones. might be worth the upgrade.
