High Pitch Engine Noise

My 2009 SANTE 230 has a high pitch noise coming from the engine compartment; I can't tell exactly where it is coming from. It seems to occur around certain RPMs and especially when I pull back on the throttle. As long as I am accelerating it doesn't really make the noise. The noise occurs in neutral at certain RPMs, as well. I have read about a whistle noise created by air intake, but this does not sound like something caused by this phenomenon. The boat runs well without any other issues; the sound is just annoying to me. I purchased the boat last summer and it has always made the noise. Any ideas?

What engine...my ZR6 does something similar when topping out and easing off the throttle

It's the fuel going down the fuel rail to the engine. Kind of sounds like jet engine /turbine/ high pitch whistle.

Krustey....what will fix this is a spacer for under the throttle body. Had this sound with my 2010 226 343 and it took the sound away. There were several posts on this a few years back. Even a notice from PCM from what I remember. Mine purred like a kitten after the fix. No irritating whistle or whine...but still had good solid engine sound.

It's hard to tell from the video, but I had a similar sound on my '08 343. It wasn't there when I first took delivery...maybe a couple of years before I heard it. I contacted PCM to get the spacer plate but never got a response. In any event, based on previous posts here, it's normal--but you can reduce or eliminate the noise with a spacer.

Yep..... thats engine whistle. The spacer under the carb will take care of that. Contact PCM
