Oil Filter for 5.7 GM 343 HP

I need to change the Oil in my Boat, Can I buy a standard Oil filter at an Auto Parts Store for a GM 5.7 Litre Engine or is there something specific about this engine...

Any input is apprecaited... Want to get the oil changed soon... (and would rather not have to wait to order one...good project for this weekend.)

Motorcraft FL-1A, Fram PH8A, K&N HP3001. Your auto parts store can cross-reference any brand from Fram PH8A.

I was so glad to see that my ZR 450 uses the old standard that I grew up with and can remember the part # instead of the odd ball filter on my Indmar powered Malibu.

Although a GM engine, PCM uses the Ford oil filter. Has to do with the relocation.

For the 2011 CC200 with a 343, a NAPA / Wicks Filter 1515 Gold Filter is used. (IMHO, they are the best filters)
About twice a year, NAPA has a ~50% off sale on filters. Good time to stock up...

From the reading I've done, the Motorcraft FL-1A is a very good filter and cheap at Walmart

I ordered mine online - PCM brand - white with black PCM logo - not sure if it is as good as a Wick but I have to figure if it ships with the PCM logo it has to be good. Right?
                Thanks!

Reviving an old thread as, dare I say it, I'm starting to prepare for winterization. I have a 2016 200 Sport Nautique with the EX 343. Anyone happen to know if anything has changed since this post as far as filter type goes? Based on what I'm seeing it would appear that the remote oil filter bracket is calling for a FL1A which would be great as I still have one on the shelf from a truck I sold years ago. Just need to make sure the "O" ring is still good then this riddle will be solved if this is the case.

I own three Supra's with 351w and a 08 210 with a GM 343 . I use the Motorcraft FL1A on all of them. Any decent filter will do except Fram. When you remove the old filter compare it to the new one . Make sure the threads and sealing ring are the same.

Thank you for your response. I did a bunch more research and found that all the remote location adapters for the 350 Chevy were using the FL1A. Looks like that just got a lot easier.....

If your changing your oil and oil filter every 50 hours I don't think filter brand matters...

To a large degree I would agree with that statement but after seeing some of the filter comparisons on YouTube there are several I would definitely would stay away from and at the top of the list is Fram. You can get a Wix, NAPA, GM or Ford for the same price or less on sale. I just paid under $8 delivered for a Wix 51515XP yesterday on Amazon Prime and it'll be here today. For that kind of money I'll get the better filter and sleep better.
