I'm hoping some of ya'll may be able to help me here. I tried the search, but couldn't figure out the correct terms to use to dig down in to what I'm looking for.
I have a 2011 Super Air Nautique 210 with a PCM Excalibur 343 engine with about 300 hours on it. The other day I went for a cruise and everything started out fine. I went for a quick lap around our cove (35-40mph) and then pulled back up to the dock to get our cooler. When I started to take back off the Check Engine light came on and the boat would not go above 2500 RPM. Through my research I've found that that is the computer kicking in to Power Reduction/Limp Mode. I opened up the engine hatch while it was running to see if I heard any knocking or unusual noises, and I did not. The boat runs fine below 2500 RPM's. The Oil Pressure and Temperature guages are registering within their normal ranges (60-80 psi for oil pressure under load/ 50psi at idle, and 160 degrees for temp). The oil level is correct and the cooling system is flowing.
This all began after it sat out in a bad rain storm that left several inches of water inside the hull. It bilged out fine, but I can't help but think that may have something to do with it. At this point I believe it to be a failing sensor (maybe the crank position sensor, oil pressure sensor, or temp sensor) but I wanted to see if any of you had experience with this issue. Also, what diagnostic tool do I need to buy so that I can check codes on this engine? I plan on keeping it for a long time, so I might as well pony up the dough and get the right tools to work on it. Any suggestions on where to purchase replacement sensors and parts for this boat?
Thanks in advance for any advice or experience you can share!
