    Factory ballast pump problem

All three of my factory ballast pumps have stopped working. Two pumps will fill but won't drain. Impellers are fine. Thinking that I had a pump problem I bought a new pump but that did not solve the problem. The switches light up appropriately. Breakers are fine. Odd thing is that they didn't all fail at one time but they did quit within the same week of my vacation to Lake LBJ.

Please provide a bit more information. Have you physically removed the plate and inspected the impellers? If so what color are they? Do you have 12 volts to the one pump that does nothing. This is a simple check using a volt meter and unplugging at the pump to check.

Green impellers in all three. I have not checked the voltage at the pumps. Odd that they would run strong in the fill position and not work in the drain position.

Green is the latest color that I am aware of. Did you make sure that the impeller hub was not spinning around inside of the vanes? This would not be typical if so. SInce they fill that takes the through hull valves out of the question. Now you need to check the voltage at the plug/ connector on each pump in the empty mode and the fill/ empty mode on the one that is not. I would also check the circuit breaker on the one that is not working.

I even tried to run the pump without an impeller, still no go.
I need to check the voltages. That would be the logical next step.
Are there relays somewhere in this circuit? Maybe they are in the oversized breaker box in the port side engine compartment.

            Are your gauges working properly?

There should also be breakers in the rear main panel by the perko. Sometimes the impellar can get stuck from non use. Then when you try to turn it in it will trip the breaker. There should be one for each pump IIRC.
