    Fresh Water Flushing

Quick question regarding the fresh water flushing system for a 2009 Air Nautique with 409 engine...I just purchased this boat, and am not familiar with the flushing system...and the boat manual doesn't really go in to great detail. When I connect to the stern flushing port water comes out of the intake underneath the boat...do the manifolds get rinsed as well during this process, or is there a valve I need to turn so the manifolds get rinsed. I have not used a stern flush system, but have only used aftermarket systems where you connect the hose in the engine compartment, turn a valve and the rinse comes out of the exhaust ports.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks

This is normal until you start the boat and then it will be picked up by the raw water pump. You want to make sure that the cap on the flush connection is tight as to prevent an air leak in the system once you are done. The boat will need to be started for the raw water to flow to the manifolds. I assume that your 409 is the closed cooling system as most are.
