    Acme prop

    Does anyone know the difference from a 1579 to a 1578? was looking for a 1578 but dealer only has a 1579.

    1579 (Left Hand Rotation)
    1 1/8" shaft. 4-blade. 13.5 X 14.25 with 0.105 cup

    1578 (Right Hand Rotation)
    1 1/8" shaft. 4-Blade. 13.5 X 14.25 with 0.105 cup

        You def need the RH 1578.


        Depending how sac'd out you are you may want to look at a 1236

            The 1236 is very close to the 1578. The only difference is that the 1236 has a steeper cup. If the 1578 has good hole-shot for you, but you turn too many RPMs at higher speed, then the 1236 may just be the ticket.

            The heavier the boat (more ballast), the lower the pitch on the prop to maintain comparable hole-shot. To answer your question, the 1236 would be a little worse than the 1578 for a heavier boat.
