Shower Water pump install - mid-90s SNT - Where?

I know there are a bunch of postings about installing showers in boats, but I haven't found any good pictures or pump installation info specifically for mid-90s Nautiques. Most of the articles I've seen are for v-drives or newer 196/206s with storage space in the stern. I have a direct drive, '94 Ski Nautique that I want to install a shower in. Where do I put the pump? I'm really rookie at working on my boat so any detailed instruction you can give would be greatly appreciated!!!

Do I mount the pump in the bilge and drill into the fiberglass? Will that compromise the structural integrity of the hull? Doesn't sound necessarily like a good idea to me but that might be just me being afraid to work on my own boat. (We'll talk perfect pass later... I cringe at the paddle wheel.)

RE: Shower Water pump install - mid-90s SNT - Where?

I would add a piece of treated plywood covered in matching carpet as a downward extension of one of the side combing pads, towards the rear by the speaker. Basically mounted behind the combing pad so it sticks out the bottom. Mount the controls through this piece of wood and the pump behind it. Someone did a really nice job using this technique on one of these boat sites but I can't remember who. I think they even wired it to the anchor light, which conveniently ran right by there. They added a second switch on the extended panel so they could use the anchor light without the shower running. No reason to mount it in the bilge. You have that whole rear removable seat so I think someting in the combing pad area will be the best option for you.

On my 95 I re-installed the pump up under the gunnel next to the back seat. I just pulled the back seat and drilled/bolted right through the fiberglass. It was an extremely strong mount and got the pump up out of the way. The hose connections were easily visible/accessible with the back seat removed. I then mounted the temperature controls with a switch to the pump inside the rear seat storage area, kept the hose rolled up there too. That it made it very accessible and user friendly unlike the factory/dealer installed controls under the motor box.

Thanks for the pic and reply MikeSki. I like your setup and will probably do the same. I might have some follow up questions when I actually pull out the seat but I'll give it a shot in a couple of weeks.

          Much appreciated!

Make sure you use the rubber grommets on the mounting screws, if not the pump resonates through the side of the boat.

I made my pump braket out of a piece of 1/4 inch aluminum and used an exsisting bolt on the engine box frame. Rubber mounts are a must to keep things quite.
