winterize question

Guys, looking for help to ensure I don't mess something up. I have a 2005 PCM Excalibur 5.7, v-drive, no heater or shower

I pulled both engine block drain plugs, both exhaust manifold drain plugs and a plug on the engine circulation pump. I want to fill with anti-freeze and thought after I put these plugs back in I could pull the hose off of the intake strainer and pour antifreeze into this hose (or have a tank of AF to pull from). Start the engine and have the antifreeze pulled/pushed into the block by the impeller. Then when thermostat opens wait for AF to exit the exhaust. I'd then have all hoses and block filled with AF.

Am I missing something that could cause me problems with this process?

You missed the transmission oil cooler drain plug and the vdrive drain plug. My oil cooler is on the starboard side of the engine compartment about halfway back and just under the floor of the boat. I'm pretty sure the vdrive water drain is labeled. Actually I think there might be 2, one on the back and one on the front side. Just from memory, I think they're both on the starboard side, but make sure you don't accidentally remove the oil drain plugs.

Add fuel stabilizer and change the oil + filter & trans fluid before you run the engine for the last time.

Should be 1 engine drain plug and a knock sensor where the other drain plug would have been. Should be a J-Tube adjacent to the crank pulley that will have a drain plug in it. I also like to pull the impellor to drain that. Thermostat open or closed does not matter as long as block is drained first. Once everything is drained as you stated, run engine drawing in antifreeze until it is coming out the exhaust. Would have about 5-6 gallons on hand, likely should only need 3 to get it done.

Skidim usually has a good winterize checklist on their site, only thing I would question is they say fill fuel tank, I disagree with that since fuel is such garbage these days and treated or not you may have running issues come spring. I prefer to leave minimal fuel so I can add 5 fresh gallons come spring and then burn it all out together.

First time winterizing a v-drive...So I performed the winterizing procedure as recommended, I started to add the antifreeze (four gallons with a hose from a five gallon bucket attached to the intake of the strainer) started the engine, and the antifreeze started coming out where the drive shaft comes through the hull. A very tiny bit did eventually come out the exhaust. I ran out of time to investigate the routing of the lines, is there anything I should be looking for? Is this normal?

Your shaft packing is water cooled (where it comes thru the hull), so it is normal to see the anti-freeze come out there, all is good
