Looking at a 2006 211. Owner said the exhaust had crack where the two manifolds dump into the fiberglass tube running out of the back of the boat. Is this common? Caused by vibration or something else?

By fiberglass tube, I assume you mean the muffler.
It is somewhat common for these mufflers to develop leaks, especially on high-hour boats. The mufflers rub on the inside of the hull if the pad underneath moves around (normally from the adhesive failing and allowing the pad to move), and that wears a hole in the bottom of the muffler, allowing water to leak.
It doesn't sound like that is the problem here though. I haven't heard of many failing at the hose connections, but I'm sure it happens. As you know, the muffler is fiberglass, and can be removed and patched if necessary. New ones are a little pricy.

Jeff if we take the guts out of the muffler what impact will it have on the motor when we put it back together. Basically looking using the muffler to straight pipe the boat. mine backfired and blew the top off of the muffler. All of the insides are loose now so we were going to cut all of that out and put new fiber on the muffler and put it back in the boat rather than buy all of the pipe and wyes to straight pipe it.Comment
