Ski Nautique '89 not loud enough... ;)

Hi all, I've got a '89 Nautique and there is nothing to complain about it… besides the reaaaally quiet exhaust. When we have a conversation onboard, I usually can’t tell if the engine still runs. Or while boarding: I couldn’t tell if there is a V8 or a wiper motor driving the prop.

I have never seen a quieter boat on earth - good for the music from the sound system and even better for the environment. But I love the typical V8-sound and would love to here my boat in a rougher way.

Does anyone know of a solution with an aftermarket muffler or how to adjust the existing muffler to get a bit more of a V8 tone??!

Thanx in advance for your support.

Just take the mufflers off. The exhaust should be under water. lol.

Here's daddy-O's thread. I had to find it to figure out what Hollywood was talking about.

I had an 89 and thought the same thing. Never was able to find any solution. The inverta-flo mufflers are just quiet. I thought of taking it off and making some sort of Y-pipe to replace it but my friend talked me out of it, said it would change the back pressure on the motor and could cause damage over the long term. I searched and searched for an aftermarket fix, but never found one.

Hey there, I would love do do so! But its more complicated as it seems. Some of you tell me, I can't just remove the muffler and replace it with some sort of Y-pipe, because the backpressure will chance and could cause damage over the long term.

Do you have an idea how to handle this issue?!

            Thanx a lot, Marty

Just removing a muffler will not harm the motor. Removing the entire exhaust and running the engine with bare heads can burn valves. Just replace the muffler with a fabricated pipe of some sort. If you have a single exhaust, just add a second tip, and run straight exhaust hose from the elbows to the tips.
