2006 ZR6 winterization

Sorry if this topic has been beat to death. I've been winterizing my GT40's for over 20 years and now have the ZR6 (closed system) in the 220 SANE which is a different beast. Here's what I've done:
- run stabil
- removed exhaust manifold plugs (not much water came out)
- removed strainer - drained.
- removed hose from heat exchanger
- drained ballast - covered piggy back sacks and belly with R13 for extra protection.

I have not drained raw water pump line/plug yet or the Transmission cooler as I'm not exactly sure where they are?? Help appreciated...

I live on lake Hartwell in SC and we may use the boat a little in the winter. Net, not thinking of running antifreeze as I never have in past. If needed, I'll get a marine heater.

I have the same question on my 200 with zr6. The hose I pulled on the heat exchanger had coolant and not raw water. Trying to make sure all the water has been drained.

Thanks for the info on this. Is there a place to find detailed direction on how to remove and replace the impeller on the ZR6 on this model? It look like it's a bear, but hoping not.

I'm just up the road from you on Keowee. I'm getting ready to do my first impeller change on my 226 with the ZR6 in a few weeks when I get back to the boat. I did find this post:

Can you tell me if your 220 was consistent with the advice offered in that thread? It pertains to the 6.0, but I didn't see a 220 or 226 specifically mentioned. Our local dealer in Greenville wants $450 for an impeller change, so either they are raping us, or there's more to it than the linked thread makes it out to be. Hopefully you've already changed yours and can chime in.

Hi - the previous posts on this are accurate and I changed mine out last weekend. I will argue that it's more than a 15 min job, but certainly not worth $450. What a joke. A lot depends on how much room you have to work with as these 220's are tight from side to side. I removed the starboard side wall as much as I could and dropped it into the well.
Start by loosening the serp belt with a socket wrench attached the tension pully. Pull the wrench towards the starboard side and slip off the belt. (don't remove it all the way) you are doing this so you can free spin the flywheel to a point where you can slip a socket extender through the grooves to access the water pump bolts. remove the 3 bolts, they want fall off as described on other posts because the have rubbber washers holding them in place(nice).. Once you get these off, slide the housing out to access the impeller. Do use the replacement washers and o-ring supplied and I lube my impeller up with dish soap. The is no key like the old ones so you can screw it up. The only other watch out is that there is a top and bottom mark on the assembly, so make so you align the top to the top.
