2001 (model year) Ski Nautique, where do I access....

OK, I have a new to me 2001 Ski Nautique. It of course had those godawful Teleflex gauges, so those had to go. I got the Faria kit, and am currently matching the hours on the Faria Tach/Hour meter to the PerfectPass hours. It's a DigitalPro, with paddle wheel, so the speedo install was pretty easy. All I had to do was install the adapter in the AirMar paddlewheel lead.

The depth meter (Humminbird) works but the water temp gauge (also Humminbird) does not. As I understand it that product is dead as far as Humminbird goes, so getting a replacement sender seems unlikely. So what I would like to do is replace the temp gauge with a Faria combo temp/depth gauge, and put an analog clock in the depth gauge spot. So this leaves me with a dilemma. Do I bore a 1 5/8" hole in the hull to install the new depth sounder/temp combo sender, or do I put an in-hull depth finder with a transom mount temp sender in, or do I put a transom mount depth tranducer with a transom mount temp sender in. I am not all that eager to drill a 1 5/8" hole in the bottom of the hull, and I already have two holes where the now unused pitot tubes come through, so I'm leaning to transom mount senders. However, I have no idea how to access where the tubes come into the hull. The 2001 model year has a back seat on top of the fuel tank, and I would assume that has to come out, but I'd like to hear from someone who has done this before.

The other question I have is the battery clamps on my cables are shot. I may end up having to run new batter cables, especially since the current ones are pretty short. Can you access where those cables run without pulling the engine? It looks like the access forward of the engine below the floor is hard to get to.

    Thanks!

I would go for a through hull transducer mounted by the pylon. Transom temp pickup. The reason for thru hull is the spray off the transom mount will stand out on short line. You won't feel it but on one side there is a weird peak that stands out. For the battery cables you can tie off the new cable to the old and pull the old one out while simultaneously installing the new one.

So I was trying to figure out how to run a wire out the pitot tube hole. How the **** do you access that back there? Do you need to remove the fuel tank? That looks like it's the case, which looks like it involves removing one of the side pads to get the tank cover out.
