    Faria gauge replacement

I am replacing my old Teflex gauges with a new Faria kit. It's a pretty simple install from what I can tell. However, I am half way into it and I have a major issue. I can't figure out where my original speedo wiring harness is. The old speedo had been removed by the previous owner who was just using the perfect pass for speed. He had a stereo control in the old speedo location. I did find a loose wiring harness, but the colors are odd and not what the instructions describe. The loose harness is two black a white and a red wire. Instructions say I should have a purple for ignition etc. Can anyone tell me what this is to? Also any ideas where to trace the speedo wires from the back of the boat?

ICBW but believe your new gauge will need a paddle wheel for a signal, which if you have PP there should already be one. Hopefully someone who has done the conversion will chime in otherwise do some searching as this issue has been discussed here numerous times.

Not sure if you have this file, but this is the (factory) wiring schematic for the dash.

For your Faria speedo, all you need is 4 wires. Ground, Ign, Backlight, and Signal.

Ground is always black, any black wire behind the dash is ground.
        Ignition is always purple.
Backlight is blue, but be aware that oil pressure is also blue, and despite the schematic, the colors are hard to tell apart. Just take one that goes multiple places.

The speedo signal you should be able to get from your perfect pass. There is a harness that's included with the conversion kit it pick it off, but basically it's the green and white wires, where white goes to ground, and green is signal.

That wiring diagram helped a lot. Apparently the other owner was a dumba## and cut the old harness out flush to the butt joint leaving no room to splice a new wire in even. So I'll have to split off one of the other wires or redo the joint. Thanks.
