    Can someone please help........

    Shouldn't matter which side of the filter you are on. Whichever is easiest to access. Looks like a straighter shot into the system going after the filter with less chance of kinking hose.

      Depends somewhat on your intended use, if for flushing out after salt use then before the strainer, if for winterizing then after would be better, if just for running on the hose either way would be ok

        I just replaced the elbow on the in side of the strainer with a tee ,valve and garden hose female adp. Works great hook up the hose turn the water on the water will come out of the raw water intake . Start the engine and give a little rev the raw water pump will suck the water in to the engine.           I wish I could do this....however I think I too will have to go the trash can or large container filled with water first route as I don't think my house has enough water pressure available.. esp if I used your set up where some of the water may make its way back out the intake instead of up into the raw water pump. Good on you though for finding a cheap solution. I could do this same thing and just extend a 6' or so piece of hose into the trash can to suck up the water. Would just need an extra valve to shut off the intake side.
