84 SN 2001...Odd sound when turning

usually when slowing down (picking up a fallen skier) and turning, the boat makes a faint noise that almost sounds like a long steady siren going off, when going straight or turning slightly you never hear the sound, Is this a normal sound for a 84 2001 or is this the sign of problems in the future

My 84 SN 2001 made all kinds of strange noises during different turning situations. It's just a result of the propwash hitting the rudder.

Normal. Kinda a neat sound, really. I would like to know where it comes from though.

It's the shape of the tracking fins. Our '88 did the same thing that my '90 does- most noticably when turning sharp and decelerating. This sound is gone on 91+ boats when they switched from the shark-fin shaped fins to a squarer design. Our '92 didnt make the noise and neither does our '03.

I had actually forgotten all about that noise until I test drove my boat!

You'll probably notice it more turning to the left than the right?
I believe that comes from the reverse rotation of the prop.
But, ya it's typical, kinda a whining noise.
