    2005/2006 SAN battery placement question

As I understand it the later model (old school) natutiques 210s came with two batteries and I was curious if anyone can post a picture of the dual battery locations? I'm restoring my 02 SAN and am tossing around the idea of going to dual batteries in place of the single bow located battery it currently has. I've seen retrofit threads where people cut out the flooring and sink the batteries flush with the floor underneath the port and/or starboard rear passenger seats which is a nice touch but I worry about that being a place for water to then collect. I was thinking mounting each in a battery box secured to the floor underneath port and starboard rear seats. I have the early model 02 SAN that has the 3 piece rear seat where each seat (port, starboard and center) can flip up and lock individually.

I don't have a pic but can confirm they are located under the 2 rear seats, one port and one starboard.

Are they mounted flush in the floor or did nautique mount them in boxes secured on top of the floor?

They are almost flush with the floor and in battery boxes. The lids of the battery boxes are about all that's protruding from the floor. Hope that helps

Ya that helps but does bring one more question to mind... Is there any means of drainage from the recesses battery cutouts to the center bilge of the hull like a hole drilled through stringer to each battery box to allow water to drain? Thanks for answering all my questions!

No problem IIRC the holes cut in the floor for the battery's were just cut then they had something down in there that let the battery sit level on. But it wasn't a sealed recessed box that they sit in. The sides were open and water would drain into the bilge, the battery boxes had drain holes in them too.

I just picked up a 2006 210 and it needs new batteries. It currently has Group 24's in battery boxes. Do you know if I can remove the boxes and drop Group 27's in those holes? I can also cut the holes larger is that's an option?

We put 31s in our 2004. Had to modify the openings slightly
