    GT40 air intake location?

    Hi,

Anyone know where the air intake is for the engine? I have a 2001 super sport, and I took on some water with today's first ski of the season (loose connection, resolved after pulling, draining, tightening) and it got me thinking I hope it's on the top of the engine.

    Also,

there is a section of 4" diameter black hose that is open on one end in the back left corner of the engine compartment which connects back to larget cylinder that takes the exhaust & water from the exhaust manifolds - my question is what is that for?

    Thanks,

    JR

PS: good ski run to open the season - too cold for more than a couple sets (45 degrees).

The second item sounds like your exhaust that should be connected to the thru hull fitting.

The first items should be on the front of the engine on one side.

The Large open hose should be the blower vent. turn on the little fan symbol on the control panel and you will hear/feel air coming out The GT 40 Intake is on the top of the engine on the observer's side.

If you got water in your air intake.......you would definately know it.

thanks for the input - figured the blackhose was for the blower after the fact, and agreed I would know if I got water into the intake as the engine would have thrown a rod or two and seized

If the black hose looks like a radiator hose, then it is exhaust, but if it looks like a clothes dryer vent hose it is the blower hose. The blower hose should not attach to the muffler box.

Its the latter - 4" diameter hose that is consistent with a dryer hose (some thin plastic wrapped around a metal coil. I'll look again when I get home to double check where it actually attaches.
