1998 Sport Nautique rear seat removal

Hi Guy's,

Quick question I am currently looking to replace the steering cable on my 1998 Sport Nautique, After researching the forums I am confident it's not beyond my abilities however after removing the engine cover and the central rear seat cushion and frame cover underneath. However I have started to run into problems after flipping the port and starboard seats forward there appears to be brackets secured to the deck I removed the screws holding these in but the frame itself seems to be held in place but I can't see any obvious additional fixings any suggestions.

Also am I correct in thinking once the rear seat has been removed the centre section of the deck rear of the engine is straightforward to remove once the rear seat is out of the equation? and once this is removed it will give me direct access to the rudder box?

I just replaced the steering cable this weekend on my 98'Air ... I moved the gas tank forward after disconnecting the main hose and removing the brackets.... My mechanic was with me and he preferred to remove the ballast tanks but I convinced him otherwise. It's a lil difficult to access the connection to the rudder but I feel it's easier than removing the ballast tanks.

Remember to attach a line to the old cable when u are removing it, it will make it easier to pass thru the new cable. But be careful Bc you do not want it to get caught with some zip ties and cause a problem as you try pulling it. Be VERY PATIENT.

I also replaced the bilge pump which wasn't working. It's very accessible when you move the gas tank forward. Hope this helps.

Thanks going back up Saturday to give it another bash taking a second set of hands will probably help as well from what Ive read passing aft from the steering wheel rack I am assuming is the prefered way of passing it through the ducting.
