Hello all, we just traded our 2007 Super Air 220 for a new 2015 G21. We are having issues with one of our amps. We listen to the music streamed through our android phone via spotify just fine until the volume reaches the level marked 32 -ish. Then the bottom amp goes into protect mode. Contacted our dealer, (a three hour one way drive ) they said it is because we are streaming music, which is a lesser quality than say, a CD, but I feel like in a boat this nice we shouldn't have to "deal with" an amp shutting itself down when the music is loud. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried a CD to verify? Also, I think most streaming services have options for what quality level you stream at. Might eat up more data, but if it solves your problem...

have you checked the tempature of the amp when it cuts out? i had this issue in one of my cars at one point....ahd so many speakers in the trunk had mount the amp to the trunk lid and it would cut out...when it did i could have cooked eggs on it, it was SO hot...
i don't buy the 'no good quality'...personally i think that is BS.
either it's overheating or the ohms draw is too high, how many speakers are connected to this amp?

The fact that its only one amp, pretty much eliminates the source quality question. Points strongly to an issue related directly to the amp and the speakers its driving. If you lover the volume, does the amp come back on or is there a waiting period or does it take a power cycle at the battery switch? Could be poor connection, low voltage at that amp, shorting speaker or internal amp issue. This is where is can get tricky, because amps are designed to go into protect mode when a condition outside of its operating parameters is detected. Not always the sign of a cheap amp, but a decent amp.

what does the amp power? protect mode it usually caused by high temp or low voltage... its almost (but not totally) imposable for the streaming music to be causing the problem. If the power wiring has been checked over and there is enough ventilation than the likely culprits are miswiring (too low of a load impedance) and an internal defect in the amp.

A quick way to determine if the amp is going into "protection mode" is to look at the LED status lights on the amp. It's either going into short circuit, DC offset, or overheat protection. Unfortunately the PA series amps don't have a microprocessor that will indicate which of those modes caused the protection so you will have to do some investigating.

I know its under warranty but sometimes because of the drive to dealer you could find a car stereo guru , to check out and find problem ,,,if it is the amp and you have a good relationship with dealer he would send you a new one and then you send the bad one back... just a thought.....2013 G23 super air
