I've been having the same issue, the solenoid did not fix it for me. I will be sending the keypad and ecm off to be tested.

Do you hear your fuel prime? I don't, only a single click when pushing start. It gradually got worse starting 2 years ago. I replaced relays, solenoid, cleaned grounds, replaced battery, bench tested starter, bypassed lanyard, etc.

Yes I did. .. I here the full prime.... and then tonigjt.... fired up each time..........

All I can think of... is relay is about to go out.....

              Or

Amp with memory is causing the drop in power.... or???

Running blower before start up caused the drop?

It sounds like you are at where I was 2 years ago (or close to it), my issue has progressed. Last summer, the one time I got out on the lake, I got out on the lake and ran for a while. After stopping for a bit for the kids to swim, I try to start and get clicks. Several more attempts and it finally turns over and fires up, so we head home. That is the last time it's turned over.

I had same problem with my 96 supersport. I replaced started solenoid and cables to it (power and ground that went to it, they were green. very corroded) it fixed my problem

Just went through and troubleshot mine this morning. It is definitely the relay. Had wife press/hold start button on keypad. Starter didn't turn. Measured battery voltage on input and S terminal, pretty sure the I terminal did get connected (since the fuel pump ran as soon as she hit start) but no voltage at the output terminal.

I'll replace it next weekend and report back, with pictures of the inside of the old one (which I expect to show pretty serious signs of arcing).

I know when I was trouble shooting my starter this spring (turned out to be a crappy battery terminal), the shorting of the solenoid to the battery hot lead provided significant sparking. My guess is that solenoid draws a lot of current, hence the relay instead of wiring it direct.

                        Here is my UPDATED status…
This past Friday night my 13 year old son and myself when to work on the boat.
When getting there the Starter worked EACH TIME no issue.
My son would press “START” and I would her “Fuel pump Prime”.
Hit start Again, and starter would “GO”
We when down with new parts and all the tools to do it….
We pulled the back seat out and FYI all…
Remove the fixable liner. (just work it out…)
For the seat, there are 3 hand tight nuts large plastic nut are. One is up high to the LEFT of the Ski pylon. The other two are all the way up the wrap sides by the rear speakers. The best way to get the one behind the driver is from inside the seating area. The other one is from in the storage locker.

Since I had the part… and my best guess is that the “Relay” was still the issue, and need to be removed. So I looked at it… and quickly found that getting to it, was NOT what I wanted to do……. At 730….. when I was going out of town in the AM…. And On the LIFT on not trailer…
I was hopping the RETEST the starting Sunday but it was raining.
I talked to the “OTHER local shop” and they have a BACK LOG of boats, but they told me that they would do their best to SWAP the relay for me THIS week.
I also talked to the SHOP THAT did all the WORK INCORRECLY… and they told me that they would Swap the relay for free…. But, I am worried that they could do something wrong again….
                        My last question….
In the boat… there is an AMP, that amp has a built in MEMORY. The Last time I had the issue, I ran the BLOWER for 5 minutes before starting…
COULD THE DRAW FROM THE “Constant MEMORY” hold and BLOWER draw so much power that I am lowering the BRAND NEW battery down, to cause the issue?
This past week, the amp was NOT wired in, and I did not turn on the blower….

This is pretty much what you should need. The contacts in the relay are probably toast. BTW I have used DBelectrical.com for quite a few years. Great service. We should see about getting them as a site sponsor.
