    Fuel sending unit wiring question?

    Hey all,
I installed a new fuel sending unit in my '08 230, couldn't get a hold of a wiring disconnect that CC uses on the original installation (CC supplies the sending unit wires bare) so I used some good "butt connectors" to splice the old connector to the new sending unit.
The fuel gauge is working, but is not showing a full indicator after a complete fill up. I'm showing about 3/4 full.
My ? is did I introduce more resistance into the system using the butt connectors? Should I just order the connector and redo it?

Is the new sending unit OEM? I'm just curious if it is and if the physical float in it would reach the actual "full" position with a full tank of gas. I guess that seems obvious, but for whatever reason I had an old Mastercraft do the same thing to me after replacing the sending unit. I just had to deal with the fact that 7/8 on the gauge meant full.

I would pull the sending unit out of the tank, move the float by hand (still wired the way it is) and see if you can get a "full" reading on the gauge.

It's the OEM replacement sending unit. It was an exact match for the one I pulled out of the tank. I'll try your suggestion, but it may take awhile as I have a really full tank!
