    Rust around Oil Drain Plug

I have a '02 196 that has rust on the oil pan where the oil drain hose kit threads into the oil pan. Has anyone ever come across this problem and how did you fix it. I would like to repair before it becomes terminal. I did try naval jelly and painting but it came back. Does anyone have any experience with the Corrosion X products? I was thinking of 1) use Corrosion X Rust Remover 2) Corrosion Xtreme Clean 3)Corrosion X. Thanks in advance.

Mine had rust. I just purchased a new oil drain line. Oil pan is aluminum and you don't need to worry about that rusting through its just the steel 90 fitting that attaches the drain hose to the oil pan that is made of steel and therefore rusts. It's a special 90 fitting with a make flare on one end and male pipe thread with a lock nut and o ring on other end. Your going to replace the 90 fitting you might as well replace the oil drain hose too and buy the whole kit from nautique parts or whom ever. It's just surface rust mine looked terrible (off a 2002 GT40 engine) but when I pulled it off it cleaned up nicely but I had already purchased a new kit so I replaced it regardless.
