Help! Internittent starting problems 2015 G23

Hope someone might have some insight. 2015 G23 550, 100hrs. No issues until today. Went to launch, battery switch on 1+2 fo start (as always), linc system boots up, wait for it to load, no problem, run blower, no problem, blue lights on around start button, go to start, nothing. Won't even turn over. Check throttle is in neutral, check tether to kill switch, all okay. No engine faults or electrical faults. Checked fuses by motor, all good. Drag boat out of water and to a local buddies house. Check voltage to starter, seems okay, and guess what? Boat fires up in his driveway! Cool. Go back to the launch, start up no problem again. Head to boat access cabin, surf in the afternoon, no problems stoppong and starting several times. Come back to the dock for happy hour. Its supposed to rain later so decide to put the boat out on mooring buoy. Go to start, no go again. Everything boots up okay, all accesories work, but boat won't turn over. Press start button and nothing happens again. Any ideas? Thanks!

Monitor the trigger to the starter with a volt meter when trying. If it gets 12v input when pushing the button it is the starter. When not, it is in the Linc. Should be an easy find for the dealer if it happens twice on one day.

I would check the wiring . My 12 model had a pin that wasn't crimped on the plug . Very easy to check . Simply wiggle the harness in engine bay at plug

Thanks for the help everyone. Thats what my dealer tech had mentioned too. Either that or the kill switch. Its been raining a bunch here so haven't had a chance to check those areas. When I do I shall report back Thanks again!

Had a chance to check things once we got home tonight. I believe the connector from the dash wiring to the engine pcm was loose. It came apart real easy, and then tightening it up it clicked into place better. We'll see if the problem persists over the next few weeks. Thanks again everyone!

An update. The problem, sadly, kept coming and going. Sometimes the line would connect with the engine PCM, others, not. When it wouldn't, there would be some pretty loud pops coming from the stereo. I finally located that the wired remote wire was the one causing the problem. When I disconnected that wire (under the seats by the amps), I never had another problem. I've since electrical taped all the RCA connectors under there in the hopes that they were causing some kind of ground loop. I will see if this works. If not, if I disconnect the wired remote cable all works well, I just don't have stereo.

I had an intermittent starting issue on my 15 G23 with the 550.

It turned out to be the + lead to the starter was loose. This caused the starter to not work occasionally. It eventually overheated and killed the starter. It was covered under warranty.

I also checked a friend's 15 G23 with 550 and the same wire was loose.

I'm not sure if this is your issue or not. But it would be worth checking.

Thanks jesutton. I have checked all the starter wires and they are good and tight. Have checked all grounds as well. The problem really as when going through the start procedure. When pressing the start button the last time to light up the second blue light beside the switch, that is when the line system connects with the engine pcm. When it does, you hear it connect as well as get a readout on the dash for coolant temp, battery volts as well as oil pressure. These change from 0 to whatever the reading is as soon as you press start the second time. Mine would stay at 0 indicating it hadn't even connected to the engine pcm. At that point, the starter isn't even in the loop yet. Make sense? I'll see this weekend if she runs okay having taped all rca connectors. Thanks again!

Gee, that sucks. Sorry to hear man. Since taping all the rca's under the glove box our boat ran flawlessly all weekend. Was above 14v underway and 12.5ish when stopped. Never had one starting problem. Did you try unplugging the wire under the glove box (by the garbage can) that says wired remote?

I crawled all over looking for loose wire. Drove 4 hours back home to dealer I purchased it from. We will see if he can find the problem.

Mine wasn't a loose wire. I disconnected the wired remote wire and that got it working. Its what led me to believe there was a faulty ground loop somewhere in the stereo wiring. Do your blue lights come on okay beside the start button? Linc screen is on, just no start?

Blue lights come on but nothing. Dealer has had it for three days now. Stating it is an engine problem and working with PCM. Will let you know when they get it running again.
