    2010 SAN 230 - PCM 409 ticking diagnosis

    Hello,

We've recently purchased a used 2010 SAN 230 and during the demo there was some clicking from the engine. I was assured by the in house mechanic that the noise was normal. Can someone with a PCM 409 confirm? Is this sound normal?

    Thanks!

Not sure of a diagnosis, but can assure you that mine does not make that sound.

I don't notice a ticking sound with my ZR450, but I definitely can hear a ticking from my truck engine which is a 5.3L GMC. I also could hear it very clearly from my previous truck which was a 6.0L Chevrolet. It seems more noticeable before the engine warms up.

You can also get a very noticeable ticking sound if a spark plug wire gets partially pulled off of its coil pack, but the engine will have a miss if this is the case. This has happened twice with my 2014 GMC Sierra. Its a common problem with this year truck and GM issued a service bulletin about it. I don't know if it applies at all to PCM engines or not, but these are all LS based GM engines.

Thanks for input guys! The engine was still cold when we were doing the demo. Any other opinions would be great,

I will be taking it in to my local Nautique dealer to give it a look over when i receive it next weekend.

Curious if you ever found out what the problem was with this?
