I tried to install the new parts in the service kit, but couldn't even get the old parts out because almost every Allen screw seems to be frozen in place. In fact, I rounded out the Allen head of the swivel pin that's shown in step C in the diagram below by using my impact wrench trying to break it free. I then tried to remove the 3 smaller Allen screws on the bottom plate that the swivel pin swivels in, but could only get one out. The heads on the other 2 rounded out. I guess I will have to get some screw extractors and hope for the best unless anyone has any thoughts on how to get this thing apart.

I think the swivel pin is actually frozen in the swivel housing from corrosion. I always seem to have trouble with corrosion and galling of aluminum threads with SS mounting hardware. Technically anti-seize should be applied to SS hardware before its screwed into aluminum to prevent galling and seizing. I understand the reason for Loc-tite to keep these part from vibrating loose, but it makes disassembly difficult especially when the hardware has been in place for years.2007 Malibu Wakesetter 23 LSV, 1995 Cobalt 200

Not to hijack... But is there any chance you could post the rest of those instructions? I am trying to separate the spinner part from the base that holds the forks but also struggling due to corrosion... Not even sure if this badge just pops off or is bolted. Thank you.

I finally got the parts removed with the help of a screw extractor and some penetrating oil. I don't know how the previous owner managed to do it but the swivel pin and 2 of the Allen screws that hold the swivel plate in place were bent inside the aluminum housing. I can't even imagine how that could even be possible. It' should make reassembly with the new parts interesting since I'm sure the threads in the aluminum are destroyed by the bent Allen screws.2007 Malibu Wakesetter 23 LSV, 1995 Cobalt 200

Everything went back together fine and works great to my surprise. And BTW, I was amazed at how well the Irwin screw extractors worked! They are the kind that have the cutting/drilling head on one end and the extractor head on the opposite end. For use with a drill.
