    2012 SANTE Computer startup issue

I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. This past weekend we ran into some trouble with the computer not wanting to startup on my 2012 SANTE. I turned the battery to 1, hit the Start button and normally the computer would display "Booting..." However, the screen remained blank. This has happened a few times before and we simply turned the battery switch to the off position, waiting a few seconds, turned it back on and we'd be good to go. However this time, nothing happened. I checked all the breakers and tried the 2 battery position as well. Note that the boat would startup fine. Just no computer.

I eventually gave up and we just went on without the computer. That night when I was wiping her down, I tried one more time and it booted right up. I power cycled her about 10 times and the computer booted about 7 times out of the 10.

I'm hearing what sounds like a relay click in the console when it boots. So I'm suspecting some type of relay or loose connection issue. I pulled the module out of the front console and checked all those connections. I noted that there were two loose connections on the ground bar bus which I promptly tightened. I checked all those screws and the positive block screws as well. However, I'm still getting intermittent failure.

Any thoughts? If anyone had a wiring diagram for a 2012 console that would be even better. I have a ton of people coming down next weekend (Memorial Day weekend) and my local dealer is swamped and said not to bring it in. So I'm on my own here until after the holidays.

I recently had the same thing happen(2013). I concluded that it was due to a low battery...screen would not come with only batt 1(and I had played around with GPS and radio on batt 1 quite a bit the night before, thus my conclusion). It would start on battery 1. I eventually ran the boat a while with 1 and 2 and with both battery getting fully charged from the run, Everything was back to normal.

d_nodixon - Thanks for the reply. I actually thought the same as you did when I put it in. The boat had been sitting for a couple of weeks. However, after running the boat for about 20-30 minutes down the lake, it still wouldn't boot. I also would have thought if the battery was low, I would have had trouble starting the engine or issues with the radio and/or amps. All of which worked perfectly. All that being said, I didn't have my battery charger or volt meter with me and you can bet they will be with me this weekend to verify.

Hey guys, exact same problem here on my 2012 200v :-( I've had the boat out twice this year. First time, first boot it froze half way through. Reset and it ran fine for a while except that when I would control the volume from the LINC the volume down would sometimes take it all the way down and volume up would go all the way up. After a while I shut everything down and locked the boat with the keypad to float a while. When I restarted, the screen would not come on. I pulled the boat out of the water with full ballast and when I got home I disconnected the battery and it booted fine and I drained the tanks in the driveway.

After getting it out of storage I accidentally put the battery on a charger (old school not trickle) and went out of town and charged it for 5 days. I thought maybe I fried it so I bought a battery. Just took it out today, ran flawlessly then docked for dinner and locked the boat. When we returned we couldn't get anything out of the LINC for the rest of the night. It's been put away for about two hours and just tried and still not working.

Well. This weekend was a bust. No computer and therefore no ballast control, zero off etc. I'm taking her home and back to my dealer. Voltages are fine on both batteries. I pulled it out of the console and checked all the connections. Everything was tight. Without a diagram I cannot go any further. Everything is nicely labeled but finding both ends and knowing what signaling/voltages are supposed to be where is important. I suspect it's the Linc unit itself is the problem as backlighting around the buttons are getting power which probably indicates the Linc is getting power. It just not booting. When it does boot maybe 1 out of 50 tries and usually when we are NOT in the water, it works perfectly.

Now I'm NOT HAPPY. Computer has been determined to be dead. Replacement is $4,200. 4 years old with 200 hours. What a crock. I have no choice but to have it replaced but come on. This thing has been garaged every night, kept in a heated warehouse all winter, and treated like royalty out on the water. There is absolutely no excuse for this failure. Since I had reported intermittent issues last year, I had hoped that Nautique might have some leeway in their warranty but nope... Lesson learned.

So far since I've had the boat the stereo (Clarion) has had multiple issues (amp failures, no sound in front speakers), the lighting wiring in the FCT were cut near the hinge due to the way they ran the wires, loose ground wires under the console, the computer was intermittent last year (and reported to my service guy), my passenger seat hinge broke and now this.

Nautique are you listening... Quality control. I guess it was no coincidence when I was down at Orlando Water Sports Park over spring break that their G23 was broken too.

I feel like I've been let down. This is no better than my 22 year old Ebbtide. At least all it took was a can WD-40 every so often to keep her moving.

Wow! That stinks! Did you buy the boat new? If so, it should still be under the 5 year warranty.

Evening Shade Yep. Bought her new. The electronics are only covered for 3 years. Not 5.
