I need to, again, replace the bunks on my Prestige wishbone trailer. Its a tedious and boring job and I am trying to come up with something better than what I have been doing for, oh, lets say 30 plus years. Rather than pressure treated or redwood 2X4s covered with carpet, has anyone tried the plastic bunk boards? They advertise them as being so smooth that you do not even need carpet. They look pretty much like the plastic "lumber" you can get at the lumber yard for building a deck, but maybe a bit higher quality. Or, how about just buying the plastic deck 2X4s and still putting on standard marine carpet? Anybody actually tried anything other then the standard wood/carpet?

I had a set of plastic covers on my old SN2001 bunks, but it was NOT a wishbone trailer. It had 2 sets of bunks. The rear had carpet and the front had plastics COVERS. I did the same thing to my Dads cobalt trailer. They made loading and unloading easy... but safety chains are a MUST.... boat would slide off EASY if you are person that removes all trailer hold downs and them backs up to ramp... that could end bad. I was thinking about replacing my new(er) trailer with plastic 2X4s but I would have put Carpet on the back half to keep if from sliding around too much.2001 Super Sport - GT40 1986 SN2001 - 351 1973 Cobalt - 188/888 2014 F150 Screw 3.5 twin turbo 2011 Expy 2002 F150 SCrew 2001 F150 SCrew 1973 K5 (toy) 1995 Burb 3/4 454 1991 K5 Blazer (DD/Toy) 1987 Honda Accord 1978 Ford F100 1981 Merc Capri 1991 Honda Civic 2002 Ninja 500R sold...
