1999 pro air

We have a new to us 99" pro air, not getting consistent depth reading and the depth sounder beeps loud anytime we get no reading or less than 5 feet of water! Anything I should check to fix it? Here's what the back looks like, what is each side for, and the center sounder? Which of them do depth and which does temp?

Mine isn't mounted in the same place so I can't comment on which is which, but a few tips. 1) You've got it set to alarm at anything less than 5' of depth. You should be able to turn that off. 2) Ours was intermittent at best on a 1999. I wouldn't expect consistent accurate readings especially when depth is constantly changing. At the end of the day if it was me I'd turn the alarm off and look to it for info when it seems to be functioning, but definitely don't count on it.

A picture of your dash would be helpful. I have a factory installed depth gauge as well as a factory installed air / water temp gauge. The sender for the depth gauge is probably epoxied to the hull somewhere in the bilge area. The other items on your stern are as follows:

I am going to assume that you have the factory Hummingbird depth finder. To temporarily silence the alarm just press the Set button and it will stay silenced until you go deeper than 5 feet and then back below 5 feet a second time. To permanently shut the alarm off, press the Set button until you see Shallow Alarm or something like that. Press the down arrow until it gets to Off and press Set again to save it.

As for the inconsistent depth readings, is it jumping all over the place or for example are you in a known depth of say 5 feet of water but it is reading more/less than that depth every time? If it's the latter then I bet you have the Keel Offset set at something other than zero. If you keep pressing the Set button you will get to KO and if you set that to zero you should see accurate depths. If it's a problem of it jumping all over place then perhaps the transducer puck has come loose and is bouncing around in the hull. My puck is epoxied down under the transmission but my boat is a V-drive so yours may be placed else where. I also believe the puck is filled with some kind of fluid and if it is not full it will not read right but I have no personal experience with that.
