    PCM 351 "spitting" gas

I just got my 1985 Ski Nautique 2001 out of a 3 year storage, getting it ready to sell. (It has less than 500 original hours on it. ) It was fully winterized prior to going into storage, and started right up (for the most part). However, it is "spitting" gas from the area circled in orange in the attached image.

    Any help with fixing that?

    Thanks!

I had the same thing on my 84 . You need a primary float bowl . They are available at Summit about 50.00 plus shipping . May as well order the gaskets and o rings at the same time.

Yes it sounds like the float bowl. Do not run it with that leak (obviously), and be sure you have a way to catch the fuel that is in that bowl when it comes off.

I believe this is the correct primary float bowl... http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hly-34r10918aq

I'm completely lost on which gaskets & o rings I will need, though. Any help?

        Is it as simple as...
        1. Shut off the gas.
        2. Remove the old bowl.
        3. Transfer all the parts (float, needle, seat, etc. )over to the new bowl.
        4. Reinstall the new bowl with a new gasket?

I've never done any carb work before...

Just be sure you are very clean with everything. Don't let any dirt get in anywhere. It's been awhile but I have rebuilt a carb before and know that even a spec of dirt can block a passage in a carb. You shouldn't have to 'shut off' the gas technically, just un hook a battery cable if anything. That bowl will have fuel in it though that will pour out when you remove it. I try to catch as much as I can... After I am done, and everything is sealed back up, I flood the area with water and flush through the bilge/drain plug to remove any trace of fuel and let air out good... Use a little dawn soap as that breaks down grease/oil/gas better. imo

            Thanks.

I'm getting my list together. In addition to the float bowl I linked above, I believe I need the following...

            (4) Primary Bowl Screws http://www.skidim.com/SCREW-CARB-BOW...tinfo/R009142/
            (1) Primary Bowl Gasket http://www.skidim.com/GASKET-PRIMARY.../HLY-108-83-2/
            (2) Fuel Transfer Tube O-Rings I'm not sure about these. I see a couple of options... http://www.summitracing.com/search/p...Tube%20O-Rings Do I want the Viton or rubber ones?

            Anything else I need?

Call summit when you order the float bowl and ask what else you need.
