04 210 aerator ballast pump question

My port side rear pump will come on and run but it will not prime up and start to fill my tank. (Have tried all the usual tricks like drive the boat to force water in the thru-hull etc...)Will these aerator pumps go bad and not pump water but still come on and run? I know the impeller pumps will when the impeller is bad. Just don't know much about these aerator pumps. Anyone ever have this issue? What did you do to fix it......or just replace the whole pump?
    Thanks.

They can go bad and look like they run , but then with pressure they won't have enough umff to push the water.

The the other thing that can happen is the o ring wears out put some lube around the seal of the pump.

You didn't mention what brand pump you have, but if it is an Attwood you can buy new cartridges rather than replacing the entire pump.

Thanks swatguy will give that a try.

a0128 - I'm pretty sure they're the original pumps that came with the boat. They're definitely not Attwoods.......no labels at all and are mounted with the oem brackets. Probably just time to replace......11 years old.

        Thanks again guys.

I have replaced the OEM pumps with the new Attwood T1200's. I just finished putting them in this past Monday. They come on but haven't had time to put the boat on the water yet. Will find out this weekend how much better they are.
I will mention this......Those dang things are a pain in the a** to get fittings for to get them to adapt to the plumbing that is in the boat. For some dumba** reason Attwood made the outlet port a 1-1/8" size and there is nothing local (Lowes, Home Depot, or even plumbing supply companies) that has anything that will fit it. WakeMakers was on back order for the fittings when I ordered the pumps. After searching and searching I ended having to find them online and ordering them from someone else and that was even a pain. Then the 1" tubing that is in the boat wouldn't fit over the 1-1/8" barbed end of the fitting. I finally got everything to fit together by making adapter pieces. What a freakin headache all because that outlet port being 1-1/8". I wish someone could please explain to me why they did that?!?!?!?!?!?!

Isn't the t1200 an aerator pump? Atwood list it as one.

I resolved the 1 1/8" adapter and the hose not fitting over by using my belt sander and grinding the barbs about halfway down. Hose slipped right over them then with the help of a little Dawn dish washing detergent.
