Thanks A0128, the only other thing I can think of is trying a new water pump and replacing the hoses at some point.

For reference, my '01 GT-40 stays around 150-160 in 80 degree water air in the 90's. I think the thermostat would be the culprit; I've never changed mine since it works so I assume its stock. Also, make sure oil level is good since a lot of cooling comes from oil.

Hi Kend, Thanks for the heads up! The thermostat is new (160). I cleaned out the thermostat housing as it has some rust in it. Back flushed the hoses as well. I checked the oil level and it its correct, and I maintain oil pressure (around 40) under load. I'm thinking the water pump may need to be replaced in the near future, or possibly I have an air leak somewhere, possibly may need to replace all the hoses.

They are easy to get in upside down
It's not so far off that I would lose a good ski day because of it; but I think these motors run pretty consistently at 160 so something seems at least a little bit off.

I think it's in right... Triangle part sticking up, that's how the old one was in there.

I guess I miss read your OP. It should cool down to around 160. Sorry for the confusion.

So yesterday evening while out on the water and for reference/ comparison I really watched my temp on my 08 210 with EX343 (160 thermostat). Max temp was 156 with 79 degree fresh water running 2600# ballast and 7 people on boat surfing (3400 rpm for 4 hours). Air temp was 89. So i would say you are running on the warm side.

I have a friend with an 03 with the EX and he fought the same issue you describe until he finally replaced the sea water pump.

Just to update everyone. The pump was the issue. Got it put in last evening and took the boat out for 15-20 min, stayed right around 160! Just want to thank all of you for your help. BTW, if anyone needs to get a new pump or impeller you should check out https://marinepumpdirect.com/ I got the pump, two impellers and shipped next day delivered to my house at 9AM for $425 which I think is a pretty **** good deal. Packaged everything professionally. I also put some silicone grease on the strainer incase there where any air leaks and switched out the worm gears for t-bolt clamps. Will be doing a full test this weekend and will post back if all issues are gone. Thanks again!
