    Loss of Speedometer reading

I have 2014 230 I bought earlier in the spring. This past weekend I loss the speedometer reading for the 2nd time. 1st time I stopped the engine, cycled the LINC unit, started back up and everything was fine. Didn't think too much of it. For the 2nd time I lost it, I could not get it to come back. All other aspects of the LINC worked fine. Since the NSS won't engage without the MPH it ended our surfing for the day and headed back to the ramp. However when being dropped off at the dock, my wife put it into reverse and at that exact moment the MPH reading kicked back in.

I do not have the zero off GPS, but have paddle wheel. I'm wondering if this is a loose connection issue or is the paddle wheel failing. I have limited knowledge of what types of failures would cause intermittent loss of speed reading so any suggestions on where to start troubleshooting are appreciated.

    thanks...scott

When on the trailer crawl under starboard (driver) side rear and you will see the paddle wheel. Make sure it spins . If it does then open engine compartment and on starboard side you will see a black pipe sticking up. Make sure the plugs are connected good . My guess is that your paddle wheel got smashed

On either side of the paddle wheel are straight metal fins. If one is leaned over you can bend it back so the wheel turns

Thanks Lucky. Won't be back near the boat again until this weekend but will definitely crawl under and take a good look.

Its looking likely that I had a very small piece of debris stuck in the paddle where that was dislodged when the boat was put in reverse. I had four days of use this weekend and no issues so I'm going with this cause for now. The paddle wheel is in good shape and all connections look good as well. Our lake has had a lot of very small wood debris this season due to storms...it just didn't occur to me that one could get perfectly lodged in the paddle wheel.
