    regular speedometer calibration

Recently, as some of you may have noted in other posts, my sister's little dog chewed up a number of things on by boat while it was parked in my parents back yard.

One of which was the driver's side speedo pitot. I put a new one on but the difference between the left and right speedometer is about 5 mph. The older one differed from the left side by 3 mph... but at least it was sort of close.

Is there a way to calibrate these? I'm not sure which one is actually correct, if either of them are. I'm going to take my gps with me next time and see what the actual speed is, but then I'd like to be able to synchronize the two.

Hmmm, 1981 right? Don't those speedo's have an allen screw coming through the face at the bottom of the gauge? If not then there should be a small calibration screw on the back of the speedo. Post a picture of the speedo to see if it will jog my memory where the calibration screw is on those.

There isn't a screw hole on the bottom, I'll check behind them though.

      Thanks Mike!

there should be a rubber gromet on the lower section of the glass in the middle with a set-screw inside of it, If it isn't there then you do not have the orginal speedo's

This raised my curiosity.....the knob sticking through the glass allows me to adjust my speedometers...however they are not running together and apparently aren't on a liner scale. When I adjust at a certain speed, then change speeds, the two start seperating again. My boat a little bit newer than SurroundSounds, i don't know if that makes any difference. How can I calibrate mine to read the same (or close to it) and be accurate?
