I'm afraid to ask but more afraid not to.... While doing some serious work on my 1983 Ski Supreme (I know) I dropped the bolt that tightens the distributor in place. My question is, is there supposed to be a washer between the bolt and the clamp that holds the distributor in place on a 1983 PCM 351?

My GT40 does not have a washer of anykind. I did apply a dab of blue lock tight just for good luck though.

Just sold my 1992 Ski Supreme CS - served me well for 8 years and kicked up a nice wake - don't be too harsh on yoursThat circular rust pattern on your distributor clamp looks like there was a washer on there to me, are your concerned it ended up in your sump ?

Yes, I'm concerned that it ended up in in the oil pan and will get tangled up with something like the crank. It has been a good boat, bought it in '84 and should have sold it long ago but just cant let it go. I did a rebuild on the stringers in '93.
I was thinking the same thing about the marks but it could also be wear from the bolt as well.

I was out working on my boat today and double checked that distributor bolt and there was indeed no washer. My bolt looked exactly like yours and mine had a small shoulder machined into the bottom side of bolt head itself. See if yours has the same shoulder? If so that's what's causing the shadow on your clamp that everyone is saying looks like a washer was there.
